    Musician at first, he has worked on many films (short and documentary films) as a sound operator and composed soundtracks.

    At the same time, he made his own short films for which he received prizes in French and foreign films festivals. Then he made his first feature film “Aurore/Number 9”. In 2005, for five years, at the initiative of the Forum des Images in Paris, he has continued his work as a filmmaker and has extended his search for new formal and narrative ways of filmmaking by using a mobile phone as a camera. His films are then shown as well in cinema as in art center [LACDA (Los angeles Center of Digital Art) / Museum of Contemporary Art – Washington DC, Centre Pompidou - Paris...].

    The Open Cinema festival in St Petersburg, the Paris Forum des Images and the Côté Court festival in Pantin focused on his work, respectively in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

    In 2007 and 2013, he released two novels "LETTRES KAZAKHES" and "SOCHI INVENTAIRE" with the Editions Intervalles, and a book of poetry illustrated by Guillaume Reynard, "SOTCHI POUR MEMOIRE".

    February 2010, he presents "AUTOPORTRAIT 365" at the collective exhibition "the real new opium?", Proposed by "is this good news" at the gallery Les Filles du Calvaire - Paris.

    March 2013, exhibition HORIZON // TALES with Guillaume Reynard at the Alma Ata Art Center and the French Consulate in Almaty - Kazakhstan.

    In 2014-2016, Jean-Claude Taki gets a film residence at the Espace Khiasma, Les Lilas, as part of the Phantom Factory program with the support of the department of Seine-St-Denis, the city of Bobigny, and of the National Audiovisual Institute.

    Since 2014, he has also produced multimedia for museums (Pompidou Center - Paris, Mons Memorial Museum - Mons, Cité des Électriciens - Bruay la Buissière)

    In 2023, he presented UNE CHRONIQUE AMÉRICAINE at the Rome Film Festival, and in 2024 at É Tudo Verdade / It's All True - International Documentary Film Festival - Brazil, and at IndieLisboa 2024 - Portugal.

    In 2024, LES POUSSIÈRES will be released in cinemas on 20 March.
